Gmo debate continues

Don’t buy US-sourced product - problem solved.

I wouldn’t trust the Daily Fail for providing completely accurate information anyway. They are a tabloid.

The US has many in power who have a lot to gain from making sure they grow and consequently sell GM food…too bad that they don’t worry about the consequences to everyone of eating foods that contain genes from other species and which are saturated in poisons. As is happening now, the crops become used to the pesticides used and then more stronger ones are needed. Good on Jamie for standing up for future generations and their right to have clean food.

There is so much misinformation about GMOs, and it has been repeatedly misrepresented by the tin-foil hat brigade. Despite the fact that the biggest meta-study ever has shown absolutely NO health risks, and that it has huge potential to help feed the poorest of people, ill-informed hysteria from the conspiracy theorists persists.http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2016/05/17/gmos-safe-academies-of-science-report-genetically-modified-food/84458872/

I’m sorry, but that is complete rubbish. Please do some research from anyone who is not a cook. http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2016/05/17/gmos-safe-academies-of-science-report-genetically-modified-food/84458872/

And of course cooks know so much more about the science than the combined minds of the Academies of Science. http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2016/05/17/gmos-safe-academies-of-science-report-genetically-modified-food/84458872/

I strongly agree with turnbuljau. It brings tears to my eyes to see how much rubbish is published about GM food and people just reading and believing headlines from badly researched articles. This is amount of misleading information is only topped by the anti immunisation lobbying groups. Being a geneticist/scientist for many years I can only emphasise that mutations occur on a a natural basis every day for thousands of years and our genome is a mix of genes from many different backgrounds. The advantages of GMO by far prevail the disadvantages, not that there are really any.

But at the top of your search, I recommend you read the Wikipedia page titled, “Farmers’ suicides in India.” It is quite evenhanded.” http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/collideascape/2012/05/09/how-seeds-of-a-false-story-took-root-and-spread/#.V8jgG9R97s0

Well said and I totally agree. LOOK at who the GMO has lobbied in the USA and its reach with the politicians… http://naturalsociety.com/list-politicians-paid-off-by-monsanto/

https://www.occupycorporatism.com/new-study-finds-organic-crops-healthier-gmos/ Neither GMO nor Non-GMO corn is labeled as such. You can, however, choose products which are NOT GMO by selecting those which are labeled “Organic”. For this reason, I’ve used the term “organic” on this page to refer to Non-GMO. Technically, the Non-GMO corn in the study was not Organic

The chart below shows that GMO corn has a calcium content of 14 ppm, while Organic corn has literally thousands of ppm more, clocking in at 6,130 ppm. GMO corn has 7 ppm potassium, while organic corn has 113. These are just two examples of how different the nutrient content is in GMO corn, vs Organic.

Worse, GMO corn has a formaldehyde content of 200. Organic corn has none. GMO corn has a Glyphosate content of 13. Organic corn has none.

Well, this is exactly what I am talking about. This is not science, which means properly done research and peer reviewed by experts, published in accepted journals, this is just pop media.

This dangerously ill-informed former computer worker, is spreading ridiculous fear-based nonsense, and when challenged on the science, tries to shut down the oppoistion voices, and threatens to sue. She’s a shocker, who uses this nonsense to market her own “natural” brand. What complete cynicism!
“Unfortunately, the Web is cluttered with people who really have no idea what they are talking about giving advice as if it were authoritative, and often that advice is colored by either an ideological agenda or a commercial interest,” Yale’s Novella writes on his blog. “The Food Babe is now the poster child for this phenomenon.” http://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2014/12/04/364745790/food-babe-or-fear-babe-as-activist-s-profile-grows-so-do-her-critics

Actually I live in Australia, where this hysterical conspiracy theory is largely ignored, thank the great Dog. The use of chemical names (usually the wrong ones" to make something sound bad and “unnatural”), is just completely out of hand.

Hi All,
Just a reminder - please keep it respectful and take the time to consider each other’s position. We want to make this a place for meaningful discussions and debates, and while this can be difficult when you feel passionately about a topic, you’re much better off showing why you have a particular position (or not) with patience and by explaining your decisions.

If there are any concerns, you can always reach out to me directly and we’ll review the situation as soon as possible. There are enough places on the internet full of anger, let’s work together to make this different.
