What's in a juice?

Hello all

We’re working on a story that looks at the ingredients in juices labelled as “green” and are keen to hear from people about their expectations of these products.

We’ve created a short survey (just four questions) and would appreciate it if you could take the time to complete it.

Thanks for your assistance.

Hey @mrafferty, many members are not happy nor are going to sign into a google platform to fill in your survey.

Hi Phil

Thanks for letting me know about this issue. I have updated the settings so you should no longer require a sign-in.

Yep the update does as expected.

It’s not easy being green - well being genuinely green apparently.
Good luck with the short survey.

If the survey was worded more carefully the meaning of the results would be clearer.

For example:

Which of the following might you expect to see in the ingredient list of a green juice? *

Chlorophyll

Spirulina

Fruit juice

Vegetable juice

Food colouring

Water

Sugar

Knowing how the food industry works I think anything that they think will improve its appeal to some part of the population, that is not forbidden by law or toxic, will probably be found in such a product.

So by that meaning I would answer “all of the above” though not all products would necessarily contain all categories. This is what I expect to be the case whether it is desirable or not.

If the question is; which ingredients do I think would be desirable to be in the product my answer would be just two; fruit and vegetable juice.

When starting, I thought the green related to ‘environmental’ rather than green being the ‘colour’. Maybe it might be best to make it clear that the juice is one which is green in colour.

Thank you.

That’s useful feedback - thank you. I’ll think about how we might reflect that.

Thanks for that. I’ll discuss your feedback with our insights team and think about how we might rephrase it.

I make my own. I was once given a fresh green juice by Joe Cross of Fat Sick and Nearly Dead fame in a Woolworths supermarket at Keperra where he was doing a visit and juicing - it was so good went out and bought a Breville juicer. Been DIY ever since. I quite like the bottled ones you can find in some outlets that are a derivative of the CSIRO research.
