The Choice summary is accurate and complete, there is little more to say about it.
If you want it in a nutshell, using “micellar” is a word game as all soaps and detergents can form them and always have been able to, nothing new at all. If you want a gentle shampoo look at the ingredients not at the waffle, as naming it “micellar” (or should that be “micellular”? ) makes no difference to gentleness.
“Micellar water” is just another concoction of synthetics to wash with, nothing special.
Viz: water, Propanediol, Glycerine, Isopropyl Myristate, Polysorbate 20, Betaine, Sodium Polyacrylate, Citric Acid, Xanthan Gum, Panthenol, Acrylates Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Myrtrimonium Bromide

I wonder at the benefits (self worth excluded) to the user of any specialty shampoos. Is shampoo really just another portmanteau of ‘sham’ meaning deception and ‘poo’ saying … well, what it is?
Whether someone considers hair a crowning glory or not, I just practice universal wash and soap.
If it’s good enough to wash the rest of me it is perfect for on top too. Skin is skin and hair is hair regardless of whether it is growing on your legs, back, face or to keep your ears warm. A good brush and comb seems to be a great option. Useful after a 12 hr day day under a hard hat too!
Or should I just wash all over with hair shampoo. Will micellar body wash be the next big thing in personal all over body care?
What an easy sell?
Gentle on the skin, while adding that soft and gentle shine with easily managed shape and form, to all that genetically engineered male splendour. (Hair, - Chest Hair

I guess some anti dandruff specialism shampoos have a place to combat the seriously bad flaking issues that some suffer from eg Seborrheic dermatitis. I do mean the ones you get that contain significant effective product eg Nizoral or Selenium Sulphide.
