why are the parts too hard for repair to to access

Since both our repairmen give us what are nothing more than their personal and anecdotal advice,
I do not know first hand if Electrolux parts are difficult for an independent to get in the general case, if it is your locality where parts need to be ordered in at additional effort for the repairer, or if it could be historic problems they had that they hang onto that have since improved or not, or it is specific to older or certain models.

Asko Fiasco

I have an Asko front loader washing machine which has only been in use for 1 year and has started leaking. So far it has taken almost five weeks, over two and a half hours on the phone with Asko (mostly spent on hold waiting for someone to take my call), and numerous calls to the local service agent trying to get the machine repaired. When you call Asko’s 1300 number you are assured that a member of their team ‘will be with you very soon’. My shortest waiting time to speak to someone was 30 min…

Miele is known to be good; we had an Asko washer ‘designed for 20 years’ that needed a control board at 12 years. The control boards were out of production and out of stock. None anywhere from Asko or any parts house. Asko suggested to try used appliance houses in case they had a used one. We bought an LG for half the price of the Asko and it has been terrific for 3 years and counting. Considering the volume of the brands I hope if we ever need an LG part there will be plenty available for…

My LG lasted just over 6 years and was replaced with an Electrolux. Compared to the Asko the cost per year was similar

I always like it when people say they don’t make them like they used to,my last dishwasher/fridge/washing machine lasted 25 years this one only lasted 8,with out giving a thought to the one they bought 33 years ago cost 2months wages and the one they bought 8 years ago cost 2 weeks wages

I wish you luck with the Miele. No more Miele for us after our dishwasher died just out of warranty and Miele could not have been less helpful. Disgusting customer service. Washing machine ditto. 5 years life out of a $3500 machine. No more Miele for us, ever.

It appears while long term trends for quality, reliability, performance, and service are important, it is an evolving situation as to what company is most reliable, or provides the best support to customers, or supports independent repairmen.
