What are the hazards?

Metal fragments from the airbag inflator may propel out through the airbag cushion towards vehicle occupants, causing serious injury or death.

What should consumers do?

Affected consumers will be contacted directly by Volkswagen to organise an inspection and repair, free of charge. Volkswagen will replace the inflator of the front airbag on the driver’s side. Volkswagen expects that replacement inflators to be available from around July 2021.
