Unethical behaviour by Comcare and their employed doctors

Has anyone ever had experience of requesting to see a specialist and being rejected by Comcare and then having to be assessed by a Psychiatrist to see if you were eligible to see a Counsellor and then that request being rejected and then end up ones nerves being worse. The doctors who wrote reports, only worried about physical problems and not nervous breakdowns. There were no tests, no treatment and no proof but their reports were taken as true.

I have experienced this abuse by Comcare doctors. It certainly needs a thorough investigation. I wonder if comcare doctors are paid more for rejecting patients request for a second opinon or requesting to be referred to doctors for ones nerves. I also wonder if females are treated worse than males. Male Psychiatrists get away with using their own male culture, and assumptions and take the easy way out for them and say they don’t believe you. Do they get paid more for this?

What makes you think that? Do you have any evidence at all that they are rewarded for certain kinds of behaviour?

I doubt they get paid more, but depending on their employment (public service vs contractors) I could easily imagine doctors getting shunted to the side or lose their contracts if they did not deliver what their employer demanded of them, eg making it as hard to qualify for benefits as possible.

A time worn government approach to rank and file public servants below SES grade, and applicants for any support be it NDIS, Jobseeker/Newstart by whatever names, starts with the premise the applicants, unlike their honourable and noble pollie selves () , are only out to rort taxpayers.

Hi hmpk12 When the Royal commission was done into Banks and Banking Products, the Comcare Insurance was called into question on multiple issues.

There were hundreds of folks who had been “led down the garden path” in order for their claims not to be paid out and completely denied in others.

I can only suggest you change Insurance companies as Comcare has an awful reputation for denying claims.
Sorry I can not be of more assistance in this area.

It might not be that simple. Government designated ‘providers’ do assessments for disability and other claims, and Comcare (doctors in this instance) is very often the provider of government choice.

When you work for the Commonwealth Government, you don’t have a choice not even of doctors. They all have to be approved by Comcare. Many of the caring doctors will not help you if they know it is a Comcare case.
