What are the defects?

The product does not comply with the requirements of the mandatory standard ‘Trade Practices Act 1974 Consumer Protection Notice No. 1 of 2003 Consumer Product Safety Standard: Bunk Beds’.

The bunk bed does not meet the requirements of the standard for a ‘MAX. MATTRESS HEIGHT’ label to be displayed on side of the upper bunk bed. The label should display the vertical distance between the upper surface of the guardrail and indicate the maximum height of the mattress being at least 160mm.

What are the hazards?

The bunk bed poses the risk of a fall which could result in an injury.

What should consumers do?

Consumers should contact the manufacturer, TubeCo Pty Ltd, to receive a repair kit which will include instructions and a maximum mattress height sticker which can be applied to the bunk bed guardrail.
