Quantum computing perhaps might be an addition with AWS having official launched its Quantum computing service. https://www.forbes.com/sites/ilkerkoksal/2020/12/30/aws-officially-launched-its-quantum-computing-service/

Perhaps soon we will have the personal home Quantum computers

It’s reasonable to expect there will be even more intelligent and robotic devices. Robot vacuums, Alexa, Google Home etc are just the beginning.

I recently discovered Husqvarna’s expanded range of Robot lawn mowers now include models capable of mowing up to an acre (5,000m2), and are fitted with GPS tracking and LED head lights. No news yet on the robotic hedge trimmer. Who needs Jim’s?

At an eye watering $4,999 it compares favourably with many ride ons likely to do duty on an acreage lot. The AWD/4WD versions start at $6,000 with a reduced mow area of 3,500m2. For Choice reviewing such products will present new challenges in assessing data security and privacy. The higher up front cost of robotics may also be a challenge for the Choice testing budget. It may need to be met to keep up and stay relevant.

Possibly necessary to run our fully connected homes. No more wall switches, appliances with knobs or remote controls. Just think, and the kettle will auto fill, boil and brew your tea before calling the auto-maid to deliver it to you. Um, will robots object to being assigned genders?

The home Quantum ‘Puter might also be what we need to ensure adequate security and home data encryption? Just a thought.

Are we still talking about the average ‘future consumer’, or George Jetson?
