On a roll: CHOICE has tested 42 toilet paper products in a lab to reveal which products:

  • tear easily at the perforation

  • are strong and can resist puncturing

In your reviews, can you identify whether products are fragranced or not? That would be helpful to people with allergies/extreme sensitivities to fragrances

I’ve just switched from ‘Who Gives A Crap’ (made in China) to ‘About A Dog’ which is made in Australia. 50% of their profits go to Animal Welfare.

The paper texture is different - but not a problem.

If it helps: over the last few years we’ve used Quilton, Coles So Soft, iCare, Who Gives A Crap, and Cheeky, and none are fragranced.

About A Dog mentioned by @joyheads says on its website “No inks, dyes, scents, BPAs or chlorine”, so it’s not fragranced either.

Thank you. I have tried Quilton but it has a faint fragrance that we can detect

We’ve just acquired a box of “About A Dog” (ordered online) toilet paper, and it seems good. Quite soft, reasonably strong, seems like it would disintegrate quickly when flushed. One can order “naked” rolls without individual paper wrapping (unlike with Who Gives A Crap, where the rolls are always individually wrapped).

@DPom, I don’t detect any fragrance on the About A Dog toilet paper.

We have been using Kirkland (from Costco, and not in Choice review) for many years, but recently I went to friends place and they had much softer toilet paper. I read the Choice review and tried Coles So Soft & Strong 3 Ply, but it wasn’t much better than Kirkland. I have now just purchased Quilton King Size Gold 4 Ply and it is luxurious - more expensive, but well worth it.

I’ve been using Quilton and Kleenex for years
but they are scented and my nether regions don’t like it, This week I managed to get a box of WGAC from Woolies. I don’t have the storage space to buy the big boxes online but the box from Woolies is only 8
 I can manage that.
