A further issue here is our ongoing love affair with Diesel engines in motor vehicles.
They are more polluting than petrol engines while the government regulators have been slow to act to bring in the latest and highest standards applied in Europe.
While protecting the heavy transport and other users from tighter regulation, personal use diesel vehicles including the tax effective tradies 4WDs have proliferated. As VW has ably demonstrated meeting tough emissions regulations on diesel passenger vehicles can be problematic. That Toyota has an issue with one of it’s solutions affecting vehicle performance is a timely reminder. No manufacturer or vehicle is immune from concerns related to engine emissions management systems performing as promised. Even if we are step behind?
