Testing products not available in Sydney/Melbourne

Hi,
I came a cross a product called “Ecotototal All Purpose Spray” in IGA Perth. Its Australian and uses non-toxic natural ingredients in its products, based in Perth. Seems very good and not harmful.

How does this company get its products tested by CHOICE as I understand you maybe Sydney/Melbourne based and cant find the product in your local shops when you do your comparisons?

As mentioned over time, the products Choice tests are generally those consumers are buying, eg having market share, with an occasional exemplar thrown in.

The reasons niche products miss out is that Choice purchases all tested products on the retail market, and funding is 100% from subscriptions and donations, hence ‘bang for the buck’ is very important.

There are some standalone test reports on products from time to time - often computers - where the manufacturer supplies a product for test and Choice makes it very clear to avoid conflicts.

To see if and how their products might be included in a future test the management of Ecototal should contact Choice via one of the methods on the linked web page.

FWIW although Ecototal appears to be a SW WA enterprise, there is a NSW distributor listed on their web site.

There are other similar manufacturers that have been mentioned over time such as Olympic Clean (aka Kickass Cleaner as sold at markets) from Geelong Vic that have never made the cut because they are niche (comparatively low volume and not commonly available in shops) players in a high volume market segment.
