Termite management reticulation systems

I am currently researching termite management reticulation(TMR) systems for a new build & keen to hear how the varied product ranges stack up for strength & durability over time. The pipe used looks similar to weeping rubber pipe similar to garden weeping hose. My experience with these over time is they perish & become brittle & break. Bearing in mind TMR are covered under sand & the house pad or pavers this may not be an issue. Any one with experience out there. Grateful for any shared experience. Jenny Z

Advice from a qualified builder:
I do not rate active systems like reticulated termite control that highly compared to passive systems such as Kordon ™, Termimesh ™ or Granitgard ™.
Contemporary Australian building standards and practices are already designed to minimise termite attacks on structures.
If you are building in a known area of termite activity, then I would highly recommend using materials which are not susceptible to termites - e.g steel house framing and / or masonry.
As part of your documentation for construction and occupation certification, you will need to validate which pre-approved termite control system you plan to install / have installed.
Active control systems require on-going maintenance and re-certification while passive systems are on an install & certify basis.
A reticulated installation will introduce toxins into the ground by continuous seepage, albeit at low levels. Despite the claims from manufacturers, I would be hesitant if young children were on the property.
Passive systems are definitely non-toxic and I suspect you will prefer them from a cost perspective.
If you are in an area of known termite activity, I would recommend regular termite inspections by an accredited person - worth the peace of mind and not unhelpful with keeping your home insurance premiums as low as possible.
If termites are encountered in your home, I recommend the baiting method as the best option for their control - it is a slowish process but is the most likely to deal with the entire colony present in the vicinity.
Be sure to check the credentials of pest control service providers before engaging and ensure that they hold specialist termite management qualifications.
Best wishes
