Specsavers - Cudos

Having read about issues people have had with Specsavers I felt it encumbant on me to say that some Specsavers Stores do the right thing by consumers.

About 18 months since my last visit to the optometrist, and my vision deteriorating especially in one eye, I decided it was time for another test and new lenses. So I attended our nearest Specsavers store; and duly received a new script. The optometrist did note that I had cataracts on both eyes, with one worse than the other. I then went and talked to the staff and look at frames.

It turned out to be cheaper to buy the new lenses in a new frame than to use an old frame. I was guaranteed the if I wasn’t happy with the outcome I could get a full refund.

When the new spectacles arrived I went back to pick them, but on trying it I didn’t feel I could see properly. They advised I try the new glasses for a week, and if there are any problems to come back.

I found that I kept reverting to my old frames because I wasn’t seeing properly, so I went back.

After the optometrist re-tested my eyes (for free) he came up with the same script. When I came back out the front I had a talk with the owner who asked what I wanted to do next, and asked if I wanted a refund (over $1,000). I said yes I did which he duly processed without any quibbles. He also suggested I see an opthamologist to check my eyes. On finding out that I didn’t have an opthamologist, he even suggested one to visit who specialised in cataracts. He also offered to have the optometrist do the referral once I had booked.

(I am now booked in to have the first cataract removed  )

So a definite thumbs up to our local Specsavers!

Implied but unsaid in your post, did they also verify the lenses were properly ground and centred? It happens.
