I have been using a Smith & Nobel cast iron pan for deep and shallow frying . Easy to hold a steady heat with being cast iron . I’m usig a gas cook top but am more used to induction , previous home had that . . I use a heat probe set at around 180c and usually canola oil ./
Quality wise a bit rough around the edges compared to Lodge and some other brands but for frying works well . At $27.95 it is indeed a bargain compared to the price of other brands . Smith & Nobel is a Harris Scarfe home brand and this item is usually available from their home stores . At the price totally recommended .
