Samsung A53 phone lost 5G network connection with No Sim after software update. About phone settings showed IMEI unknown. Tried Sim in an old phone to test and it worked. The fault was the phone and not the Sim.
Visited Samsung Customer Service Store at Macquarie Shopping Centre on 7th Feb 2026. They asked phone age (about 3 years) and in less than a minute of diagnostics advised that phone repair would cost about $500 for a replacement motherboard. This cost meant buying a new phone was a better option. They were very keen to offer selling a new phone.
As a last resort, we did our own factory reset and phone is now working. Please try a factory reset yourself before accepting Samsung advice as they don’t seem willing to help but very keen to make a new sale.
I hope others don’t fall for this scam.
