I’m hoping others might be able to share experiences / tips relating to ACL claims on the grounds of acceptable quality (specifically “durablity”)?
Our front loader washing machine needs expensive repairs (so costly that it wouldn’t be worth it). We got it only five years ago and paid well over $1000 for it. We’ve maintained it well and haven’t subjected it to any form of abnormal use (no overloading, subjected it to an average frequency of use, had it installed by the retailer etc).
We expect…
with two salient points, the cost of repairs/parts and the durability.
Regardless of product there is also a litany of complaints about the prices of spares such as for cars , and sometimes the basic availability in our market. I and some mates have had to import spares over the years that are readily available in the US/UK/EU that were not available locally, and sometimes when available the local prices had a significant Australia Tax burden making them uneconomic (back to importing or sending ‘it’ to the tip).
Parts?
I used a service provider called Do-All Applicances to repair my oven and my dryer. They repaired the dryer, but while attempting to install new hinges on the oven door, the guy broke the glass. He took the oven door away, promising to put in new glass and return it. 2 weeks later he showed up with a different, second-hand door — that didn’t fit! I am still waiting for them to put new glass in my door and return it so I can use my oven, a month later. I am not quite sure how to get this mov…
and to revisit my earlier link
I think any question posed under “warranty” as compared to “failure” misses the mark. All failures are not warranty issues but most warranty issues are failures, time dependent and subject to the ACL.
Another aspect, but how can it be quantified? An increasing number of manufacturers only stock spares for the warranty period at product end-of-life. Since there are still some sales for a time after that, if a failure cannot be fixed because of insufficient spares they have the option of repla…
