A good example of “the dose makes the poison”.

Another way of doing self harm from such doses would be the shock as you examine what is in the bowl after your daily.

Very interesting , thank you .
“Even a small amount of licorice you eat can increase your blood pressure a little bit,” said Dr Neel Butala, a cardiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital who described the case in the New England Journal of Medicine.

We have warnings on many food items, particularly those that may cause issues for those people with nut, egg or diary sensitivities. Should there be one on foods that can have such an impact in small quantities?

Hi Vee, welcome to the community.

There are many other foods which can also raise blood pressure…

Many of these are consumed regularly.

Over consumption of any food can cause problems. There are posts in the community which discuss death of some unfortunate individuals as a result of overconsumption of water.

If foods had to have warnings, then every food would end up having them and potentially it would become a windfall to lawyers to those which don’t or get the warnings wrong. It would also kill foods made at home an provided to others or sold at markets and insurances would go through the roof for the food industry.

A far better solution is what currently exists and advice issued by dietitians and health authorities…that being to consume in moderation. Those that overconsume any particular food should be wary of potential consequences.
