Meriton rigged TripAdvisor reviews, Federal Court rules

Misleading and deceptive conduct from Meriton Serviced Apartments, after preventing guests from leaving bad reviews.

It’s good that the ACCC is on the case, but what will those who were affected get out of it? People get ripped off, and the Government gets the money.

Sorry to keep harping on about this, but I strongly believe that the ACCC & its powers need to be changed to make it effective, and among other things the remedy should go to the affected consumers.

The computer chain MSY has had to plant a very prominent, in-your-face notice on its website for 90 days after the Federal Court ruled it had made “false, misleading and deceptive representations”.

It’d be heartening to see the same standard applied to much larger companies such as Meriton.
