International Air Travel Stories

We recently travelled Perth/Singapore/Frankfurt/Birmingham and return using Singapore Airlines code sharing with Lufthansa. Perth to Singapore then Frankfurt was with Singapore Airlines. Lufthansa then to Birmingham. The flight to Birmingham was delayed because of technical issues with Lufthansa aircraft. Another aircraft was required and we were bussed to it. So late arrival Birmingham and no luggage. The comments from the passengers would make your hair curl although some passengers said Lufthansa simply could not keep to a schedule. Luggage arrived a day later.
End of holiday and we arrived very early to catch the Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt. Three hours past the departure time an empty Lufthansa plane arrived from Frankfurt. We got in at 11.30pm. Missed the flight to Singapore of course. The usual very annoyed passengers at Frankfurt were quietly told by the Check in staff that there had been a problem with availability and scheduling. We were put up in a hotel and next day had to fly to Munich then on the Singapore. The staff on the aircraft were first class and very helpful. That said we would NEVER fly Lufthansa again.

Hi @john.blakey, Thanks for posting, however it was off topic about lounge access so I made this new topic for your and probably others experiences.

Recently we booked a flight to London on Malaysian Airways (MH122!!!), business class, departing Sydney 4 October and arriving Heathrow 5 October. For personal reasons, we wished to reschedule our flight to late Septemeber. We were told that the reschedule would cost us an extra $4,140.00 on top of what we had paid. We decided the change was not worth it.

Very poor response from Malaysian Airways. Maybe you should write to their head office in KL about this. I’d certainly be personally very careful about flying with them in the future.

Air fares change by the day. We recently were booking an around the world and there was literally $1000 difference for 2 days difference in one travel date. Happily our lives are flexible.

Changes of plan require one to understand the fare could change, and depending on the day of week it could be a dramatic difference.
