I'm saying RIP to Ryvita

Today I ate my last Ryvita crispbread. It’s been my favourite alternative to bread since I was at university, around 50 years ago, and has been a supermarket staple for a long time. For a quick snack or a more substantial, portable lunch, the rye-flavoured biscuit made a solid and satisfying base for all sorts of toppings. Over the past decade, however, I’ve watched as the portions dwindled in size i.e. length, breadth, thickness (although not price) until they’re no longer capable of holding very much at all without exploding into crumbly fragments. The last packet I bought was the final straw. At least 50% of the contents were already crumbs, while the biscuits had been packaged up in “individual” cellophane parcels that simply meant more packaging to recycle. Has anyone else noticed other familiar staples that have endured the same fate?
