Going by some of the photos in some of the articles regarding PCB’s, it appears that there is still a great deal of it in both operational and disused electrical transformers and switch-gear.

An article some decades ago in the local rag stated that Ergon had a huge stockpile of 200 litre steel drums filled with old transformer oil stored at their McLeod Street depot in Cairns, and the drums were rusting away.

I have never seen any update as to what, if anything, has been done about it.

And of course there was all the Agent Orange sprayed in Vietnam, much of which probably ended up in waterways.
