Yes, I offer my humble apologies to all and @ajohnson for taking such a large portion of her dish washer safe cooked salmon.
Enjoy your fish every one.
P.S. It was just so appetising.
First up why have you got a dishwasher,. Second what are you smoking to even think about doing that?
Thanks to everyone who humoured me. There are some great answers here and I really enjoyed the other alternative cooking suggestions (that now have their own thread)
Our whitegoods specialist, @airedale actually applied his scientific approach to this strange question and wrote up a full article explaining how (and why) you can cook a salmon dinner in your dishwasher. It includes video footage and a recipe, so be sure to check it out.
Here’s the final result:
I’m awarding BS Buster badges to @gordon, @PhilT, @mark_m and @syncretic for their thorough research and reasoning. Nice work!
Andrea, appreciate the badge, thank you.
Intersting that rice and spinach in the dish washer was not a stretch too far. We have a similar model Miele. It’s tempting for a surprise dinner, perhaps with a different fish that can take a longer cook?
Might be best to start with plenty of wine to be sure!
Thanks Andrea
I was going to try it on my trout, but after grabbing one from the freezer, discovered there was barely enough space, so cooked it on the BBQ as usual
You’re welcome. Maybe something bigger, like a whole fish would cook perfectly? Just think how many mouths you could feed cooking in the dishwasher - dinner party made easy
Wow! That trout is absolutely huge. The BBQ sounds like the sensible route - hope it was delicious.
I have been advised by a US chef (mate) who spent decades doing a regional TV cooking show to avoid using rinse aid as it can leave a bad aftertaste.
Do you mean on the salmon or on the dishes?
When cooking in the dishwasher.
Who needs a dishwasher?
Turns out salmon isn’t the only odd thing you can put in your dishwasher:
Can you? Apparently so. Should you? If you believe in trying everything once, maybe. Otherwise… inconceivable!
