Beware: “Pain Free Aussies”

Please be aware of these adds popping up all over Facebook and steer clear, check review sites, scamadviser etc. Don’t be stupid like me.

This company sells cheap garbage chairs that can be bought for 1/2 the price of their “sale” price their $280 chairs that are on sale are $140 elsewhere. Once you’ve paid there is no going back if you ask to cancel, they will tell you it’s already shipped and then ship two days later after you make a PayPal claim.

Far from being pain free I could not sit in this for more than 10 minutes without my lower back acing, there are two adjustments, up and down or the useless head rest, the tilt is not adjustable as advertised (flexible tilt adjustment) but is rather locked fully forward or can rock back and forth. The cushion is woeful, at 85kg I could feel the base board, there is no way you could sit in this all day.

After recovering from three bulged discs I was hoping for a decent chair, I’m now in more pain from sitting in this chair then trying to put it back in the box to return it, truly disgusted.

They didn’t even send the free face mask.

The company also deletes comments and blocks anyone who comments negatively on their Facebook page and don’t reply to requests to return for a refund.

I hope you reported them. I haven’t seen those ads. I find that FB algorithms send ads to you which may (or not) be related to something you have searched for off facebook. There’s not many ways to escape this except by abandoning fb or simply ignoring the ads which are more frequent than anything else, of late.

Welcome to the community and for introducing the topic, @jbj1181

Not being a fan of Facebook and its business model I rarely see promotions for products sold by he business trading as “Pain Free Aussies”.

Their web site pops readilu to the top of Google search, so no need to paste a link. To note the home page advises:

Our HQ is located in Southbank, 3006, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and is owned by a highly passionate team who wants to bring comfort and convenience to your home by providing the best service possible.

Subject to a thorough read of their T&C’s one should hold some hope the provisions of the ACL (Australian Consumer Law) will be enforceable. IE noted your concerns re issues with product description, promises and performance.

P.S.
I’ve made a minor edit to the topic heading to reflect the way “Pain Free Aussies” label their brand on their website.

I paid with PayPal so am hoping they can force a return, the company is clearly not interested in allowing a return. The ad clearly suggests you can adjust the tilt, at $280 this would be expected as minimum feature, my $150 Officeworks chair has more adjustments. I work in IT so am quite embarrassed I fell for a Facebook scam, that’s why I also used PayPal though for the buyer protection.

An update.

Seller is ignoring PayPal dispute.
Had two missed calls from a private number on Thursday which I ignored, pretty standard that I ignore private or unknown numbers.

Email comes in asking me to call to discuss, I replied there is nothing to discuss, it’s not what was described, send me an address to send it back.

I then got offered $150 + $150 store credit and I can keep the chair, I countered with $200 no store credit (original purchase $286) apparently management would need to approve this and I’ve heard nothing but addrd this info to PayPal dispute, they have till Friday to respond to PayPal then I’m escalating.

My god, just send me a return address.

I had the same experience! The chair is absolute garbage! It tilts forward and can’t be adjusted other than up or down! I actually went to their website to order this, via a google search, and they look so legit. But when you analyse the “customer reviews” it becomes obvious that they are all fake. When have you ever seen so many posts on the internet with no spelling or grammar errors! I wish I’d noticed that earlier. Anyway, I have tried to return it too but they have stopped contacting me when I said I would not reassemble the chair to take photos of the problems, as I’d repacked it ready to return! What would the photos achieve? It’s blatant false advertising and they should be shut down. Good luck with PayPay! I can’t even be bothered going down that route.

I got a full refund via PayPal and they paid for shipping, log a PayPal case under item not as described. They made me photograph it too, no idea why.

Since the return and refund they tried calling me a couple times, not sure why, I just blocked them.

Years ago I had a failed LED downlight. They required a photo of it. I sent a photo of the dark LED in the ceiling; it could have been defective or just turned off. They promptly refunded it.

Many companies, good and not so good, have a tick the box system the human-bots have to follow.

:warning: WILL NEVER PURCHASE AGAIN DONT DO IT PEOPLE:warning:

Company Pain Free Aussies

:warning: NEVER :warning: will I purchase again. Wasted to much money purchasing products. Misleading information, 30 days money back is a lie and the material in the cooling blankets are rubbish. The communication is a disgrace. Went with this company to support Aussie sellers but you get TEMU quality, every blanket we purchased are covered in pilling all the small balls all over looks disgusting. Terrible communication with this company
Please do your homework and read reviews. They should be ashamed of themselves ripping off customers, charging the price they do for the quality you get. Big mistake! Offered a $20 voucher (thanks won’t need it) then after another email they said best we can do is offer a $10 voucher I then said ummm was originally offered a $20 they knocked $10 off. Will never purchase again!!! If I could rate -10 I would give. We ordered 3 sets (6 in total) of pillow slips they couldn’t even get correct see pics of sizing and colour. What an absolute headache… wont let me attach more pic sorry

Welcome to the Community @Sharna

I merged your post into this existing one about Pain Free. If you start at the top you will notice your experience is not unusual. It is always better to research a company before purchasing, not after, especially with the plethora of dodgy companies and scams on Facebook - if that is where you found them.

Consider your rights under Australian Consumer Law. You could send them a formal Letter of Complaint citing your rights (search the Community, Choice, or the ACCC sites for details) and asking for a full refund based on their failure to deliver, but expect it to be ignored or them delaying and delaying until your rights for a dispute (charge back) expire.

Consider lodging a dispute (aka charge back) with your payment company, eg paypal or your card issuer, citing what has transpired backed by your rights under the ACL.

‘PAIN FREE AUSSIES’ Avoid this fraudulent business!

AVOID THIS ‘COMPANY’. I purchased for $115 (on sale), two pairs of shoes. I have back, hip and knee issues and had been searching for walking shoes that would be supportive. After delayed shipping and no ability to track the shoes, they arrived in plastic bags, without logos, branding, labels, sizes (except a sticker on the bags). The shoes were different sizes, didn’t fit, very uncomfortable, and smelled heavily of petro chemicals. I took a photo of them and did an image search and found that these are cheap unbranded mass produced shoes that you can buy on Temu and the like for far less. I emailed them straight away to return them and after MANY emails back and forth trying to gas light me and lots of fraudulent claims about their T & C’s which broke Australian consumer laws, they finally sent me a return shipping label. I sent the shoes back which they received and then was contacted again via email and phone (an American number…the Australian number listed on their website just rings out), saying that they have the shoes and can process the refund right away if I amend my review on Trust Pilot. I told them I wouldn’t do that until the situation was completely resolved, and since then they have almost completely disappeared and 5 days later there is still no refund or pending refund in my account. This company is operating as an Australian business to try to gain peoples trust but in reality they do not operate from here and they are charging inflated prices for cheap crappy junk. And until they return my money, they are committing theft and fraud. I’ve reported them to my banks fraud department and Consumer Affairs so hoping they get flagged as a fraudulent business so more people can see what a scam they are running.

Welcome to the Community @Clare1

I merged your post into this existing topic that has relevancy.

It appears you have done all the right things to get a refund/charge-back from your card issuer. Please let us know how you go.

Thanks for the warning, Clare. I was also looking at a shoe purchase but haven’t done so because sizing online is dodgy at best. Looks like I won’t now.

I purchased a pair of shoes advertised as Australian ladies size 11. They came and were quite narrow so I reached out to refund.
The mess hasn’t finished yet but I feel they’re playing hard ball and twisting my words. 3 weeks down the track and they’re referring to higher management. I want my money back because I don’t want to deal with this type of business.

Hi @Belinda55, welcome to the community.

I have moved your post to an existing thread about ‘Pain Free Aussies’. As you can see from above posts, the business is well known to the community and many other consumers have also had issues with the business.

Thank you for your contribution and warning for others.
