Last year I bought a vacuum cleaner off a third party seller via Amazon AU. I’ve messaged third party seller and they’ve taken responsibility by offering to replace the broken part - the telescopic rod. However the funny thing is in the message box facilitated by Amazon AU it says “For your security, do not include any personal information including email addresses, physical addresses, phone numbers….”.
So how am I supposed to get a replacement if the third party seller doesn’t know where to send it to? Shouldn’t the third party seller have access to this information from the order number?
I’ve reported this seller to Amazon AU as other but maybe shouldn’t have as I just want a working vacuum cleaner.
Marketplace and booking type platforms do this, particularly during the sale/booking process to ensure consumers are protected from potential scammers and/or to insure the sale/booking occurs through the platform so that they gain their commissions.
As you have bought the product and trying to resolve a warranty issue, this can’t be done without providing some personal details to allow the warranty claim to be resolved. This includes potentially purchase information (order number and your address). This should be enough information to get the ball rolling.
It is also possible that information isn’t available to the seller anymore through Amazon. Some platforms close information off to sellers after a period of time. One hopes the seller keeps their own records in such case.
