I’m a consultant ecologist with a broader background in domestic ‘sustainability’ and eco-renovation. I’ve ‘greened’ a 1980s brick veneer home in Canberra (as much as my PhD student budget allowed), a 1950s/90s composite extended home, and my current 10 year-old project home. Would rather build something new and very efficient/ethical but that’s a big ask whilst running my own consultancy, so it will have to wait. There’s also an argument that it can be more resource-efficient to eco-renovate well rather than build new.
