Woolworths Cooked Chickens, now with free cross contamination

Not disagreeing that washing takes time or the risks are small in the supermarket. But using an alcohol foam/gel would not be onerous or difficult before gloving.

So your initial thought that they have been handling raw chicken because they are wearing gloves is a sad indictment of the supermarket process in that you have become conditioned to connecting the wearing of gloves with said handling rather than it should be a sign that a supermarket employee is changing and using gloves properly. Obviously then this means that supermarkets have failed to ensure safe and proper food handling processes to engender that perception.

On the other hand, we have been conditioned that wearing gloves means clean, hygienic hands. The same can be achieved with proper washing without gloves and wearing gloves to prevent contamination of the hands.
