You might search this forum and other places for Canon’s corporate attitude toward older devices. It is a standard ‘not compatible, buy a new one’. The bottom line is unless your new wifi access point is 5 GHz only, which would be rare but not impossible, there is no reason you should not be able to get your printer working. Canon ‘support’ supports current devices in warranty, and tells the rest ‘cannot be done’ so they buy new, as evidence suggests.
