It’s a nice trick, @JJ01, but I got a shredder for $70 - it sits next to my desk and whenever I have to get rid of a paper with sensitive details on it I just stick it in its slot and can forget about it. 
Shredding plastic cards is a tiny bit more involved because I try to keep the paper and plastic separate for recycling, but otherwise it’s a no brainer…
