Tell us about your flight delay or cancellation experiences

Our family has booked to fly to Cairns in July. Should we take out insurance for travelling within Australia, just in case the airlines cancel our flight and we have accommodation and a trip to the reef booked. Or is the Airline responsible to refund all of our losses?

If an airline cancels a flight, you will only be able to potentially claim the losses associated with the flight not all costs associated with a holiday.

We’ve made several important domestic trips in the past 6 months. We chose to take out travel insurance, knowing accommodation and other had been prebooked. Pre-Covid it would not have been our preference. Covid adds one more variable.
