As the residents reinforce, getting a ticket or 5 tickets at once in the post a month later has arguably nothing to do with safety on the roads and appears to have lots to do with state treasuries. Duty of care to do the right thing? Not by government agencies under pressure to pay their own ways plus dividends.
A member will invariably put their head up to tell the residents to cop their fines because they were speeding, but were they? Was there a road safety issue in the town or was this a random camera just because they could?
