There is limited travel support for some - depending on ones medical needs, location and State/Territory. Consumers with first hand experiences/knowledge might like to share those in a new topic. Let me know through a PM if there is any interest.

There is a topic that has posts that reference each State/Territory transport assistance scheme already in existence, others are welcome to comment there. It also includes a post about the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Angel Flight on their roles. We have used the RFDS, the NT scheme, and the Qld scheme.

Issues Accessing Health Care outside the big cities

To help assuage some of the costs of travel above what is considered normal, every State and Territory to my knowledge have some form of Patient Transport assistance. This payment helps to offset or cover the cost of travel and accommodation, In some cases Accommodation providers accept the payment from the Government as full reimbursement.
