… with any luck a comet will have corrected all this nonsense long before the ‘brave new world’ ‘saves us all’ … seriously, sometimes my feeling of ‘Weltschmerz’ is overwhelming … we are long overdue …

I don’t think comets have yet adopted Universal Time (UTC). It’s quite a disappointment, really - life would be so much easier if we got a message:
“At the third stroke, it will be Comet Apocalypse precisely. Beep, beep, … … …”
(Has my bad joke driven away the young Choiceketeers, who don’t know how we used to check The Time?)

So much has been forgotten … 31 December 2002 was a sad day indeed, but before that October 1987. We rely on the Americans for that old stalwart WWV … 4.5, 7.5 and 12 are no more … oh the memories …
