Surely not!
I’ve used mostly Open Office (Libre occasionally) for 20+ years on several different OS. Except for work which typically provided MS Office. For the typical home user the open source versions offer all one needs.
Conversion to the dork side optional. :wink:

Best places to check AV (AV-Comparatives has a reduced amount of product they test compared to AV-Test))

Both these testing organisations are independent of the product producers and often their results match. Sometimes the results can be different, this can be a result of when the tests were conducted by each organisation and how the product producers have responded to very current threats.

Microsoft Defender (the built in Windows product) is often a highly rated product these days and as it is free as well, would meet the needs without having to pay for premium products from other businesses.
