The ‘second opinion second quote’ in progress in my other post is with a very highly regarded surgeon who works in both public and private systems, BUT he will not see self insured private patients; they must have private health cover.
I muse whether that is a subtle way to ‘sell the system’. In contrast some hospitals (and a few surgeons) offer self-insured patient packages and publish costs.
