Is it alright to spray perfume on a dog?

A new neighbour has a young Maremma. It’s been wet here mostly for the 6 months since they moved onto a couple of acres. Like all young dogs it gets into everything including the mud and water. I expected it would be a high maintenance dog with the Snow White coat needing frequent washing.

The reality is their Maremma has only had a couple of baths. No matter how grubby it ends the day it seems to be back to white, fresh and fluffy the next day. I’ve never noticed any undue odour when up close and personal.

Nature seems to work it out without too much need for our assistance.

A quick rub down on the carpet and the sofa?

Maremmano is a breed of sheepdog indigenous of Maremma, a western-central area of Italy, formerly mostly marshland.
This courageous live-stock guardian takes on predators such as wolves and bears without any difficulty.
The beautiful thick coat is a natural and appropriate protection for weather that is cold and wet.

The mind boggles to think of a perfumed Maremmano dog!:laughing:

Isn’t that what they’re for?

The dogs or the carpets and sofas?

Yes.
