February 2022 Food Champions Challenge: What is your favourite condiment and How do you use it in food you prepare?

Who doesn’t like custard?

I’d like to think custard is a tasty condiment, and a great way of encouraging those fussy younger ones to eat more fruit or fruit based goodies. It’s to many desserts what tomato sauce is to a battered saveloy, and possibly healthier.

There are options to suit all, home made from scratch, with custard powder or mass packaged.

P.S.
Some might think custard is neither a sauce or a condiment. More a staple of the diet. To each their own.

Not all condiments are created equal when it comes to the ‘healthy’ list from the above link.

Not surprising that BBQ sauce
has a too high sugar content,
but you’d expect a fat-free salad dressing not to contain so much sugar and salt to make it less healthy than the full-fat one.

Salsa, tahini, mustard are good for us, and Kimchi and Sauerkraut are rich in probiotics, and Hummus is rich in plant based protein.

Choosing our condiments wisely can be
healthy as well :slightly_smiling_face:

Love all the suggestions because it mostly means people are COOKING instead of cans & fast food !!
which is by the way cheaper healthier & sometimes quicker ! Getting back to the original meaning of the word condiment we all should be eating more food with vinegar (Pickled ) good for healthy gut Yvonne
