Turbulence, especially clear air turbulence, is not predictable nor does it show on their weather/flight radar. Best practice is to always keep one’s seat belt fastened unless moving about the cabin. Unbelted pax are the ones who hit the ceilings and overheads and drop onto aisles or other pax when the unexpected happens. Rare, but.
