Consumer rights on payment methods and different charges for these

I am curious, would that be an online saver that allows direct debits? I have 2, but both of them require companion transactions accounts, and those transaction accounts have debit cards.

If that describes what you are facing it would require keeping track of moving money into the respective transaction account for ‘debit time’ but is a way forward if you don’t want to change the service.

If my prior guess about your account is correct you would have that control by only putting as much in the transaction account as would be required for the direct debits to the card. I agree it is inconvenient and a PITA to have to do that. But on balance it would limit any potential loss by the business taking more than you think is proper to your current billing.

A reality is and as has been reinforced across the Community in many topics, businesses (including banks, utilities and telcos) can set their own terms of service and we, as consumers, are free to accept them or go elsewhere.

Pushing back is essentiall taking one’s business elsewhere and campaigning to your MP with enough other like-minded people for them to take notice.

There is another topic and some Choice reports about seniors and credit cards, although debit cards have not been reported to be problematic.
