Welcome to the Choice community, Marija.

Hereā€™s an anti-recommendation: Do you really need an electric one? If so, then it will be potentially as important to get a recommendation on the shutter itself as it is on the installer.

We have electric roller shutters and weā€™ve had no end of problems over the years, installer been back countless times when one stops working, which means that that window canā€™t be used for X weeks at a time, have had the motors upgraded, ā€¦

Whether itā€™s under warranty or not is only part of the puzzle because thereā€™s a hassle factor involved even if the installer is paying for it. However obviously you should be keen to know what the warranty period and conditions are.

Itā€™s one more thing to go wrong.

Just sayinā€™

You might get some useful information from this older topic for asking questions.

It reads like you have decided to buy some, and there are myriad reasons people do. Knowing what to ask the sales people beyond just having a recommendation can be valuable.

Have you decided on a particular brand of product?
Are you asking for a brand recommendation or advice?

If you have decided which brand and or model you require, it may be best to look for two or more suppliers/agents close to your area or the principle supplier for the Melbourne area. Wisdom may be to have the roller blind supplier also arrange for the install on the one order. That way there are no issues with warranty over product vs installer arguments.

Models other than manual operation can be battery powered electric or mains powered electric. The last option has the added cost of an electrician. This will add to the cost based on how convenient access to power is at the window.

ā€¦ and raises the issue of whether you can operate the window when the mains power is out, planned or unplanned.
