Air Conditioner/Tasmanian "Heat Pump"

Most A/Cs do that, however its a manual adjustment.

I did my 1980 U. Tas. masters project on The Feasibility of Heat Pumps for Domestic Heating in Tasmania. I now live in cold Canberra, and am on my fourth heat pump. Each has lasted about 15 years.
Modern heat pumps use about a quarter as much electricity as electric resistance space heaters. An electric radiator can be cheaper to run, but only if you’re sitting or standing near it and you’re not trying to heat the whole room.
Heat pumps are more efficient for heating than for cooling, because the waste heat from the electric motor contributes to the heat output.
My current split system provides poor heat distribution, because the indoor unit was mounted near the ceiling. That’s great for cooling, because cool air falls. For heating, it means that the ceiling gets warm but the floor stays cold. I had to install a ceiling fan to bring the warm air down to people level!
