I joined CHOICE as a content producer in November 2017 and am ensconced at the heart of the action in our laundry laboratory.
My focus is on whitegoods, and I write articles about the most essential appliances in your home, including washing machines, fridges, dishwashers, clothes dryers, air conditioners and heaters, as well as a range of cleaning products and detergents which can help you get the best out of your washer or dishwasher.
I love working for CHOICE because it allows me to combine my manufacturing, materials, product and industrial design knowledge and years of experience in the consumer goods industry with my communications and publishing skills in order to help Australian consumers choose the best value, best performing appliances for their needs. But it goes further than that – I’m also passionate about helping people understand how their appliances work, how to use and maintain them in order to get the best performance and a longer life longest life, and how to avoid products that simply don’t do the job they’re supposed to.
I believe in standing up for the underdog, and with so much advertising spin out there, the way I can do that is by providing robust, independent and clear information for consumers. I’m proud to be part of an organisation which directly contributes to better products for Australian consumers, though our reviews and testing, input into the development of new Australian Standards, pushing manufacturers to improve the performance of their products, calling out businesses doing the wrong thing by their customers, or helping to shape the conversation about product longevity, stewardship and recycling and responsible end of life disposal.
I have degrees in industrial design and marketing and communications, many years experience in a wide range of industries including power tools, manufacturing, legal publishing, retail, air conditioning and HVAC, IT and higher education, and I’m interested in absolutely everything.
