@johnkerr welcome, i had a look at it for another thread then stumbled over this one 
The consent issue is interesting, and not always clear cut. Having said that, there seem to be laws and penalties when it comes to spamming. Overseas spammers are another issue, but there is some redresss under the law.

Thank you @grahroll for the extensive explanation and in-depth information. Iāve made most of the mistakes which you mention and have been keen to fix them but didnāt know what to do. As per your recommendation, Iāve downloaded Blur to both my laptop and phone. I love the information youāve provided as I now know exactly what I need to do to purge myself of these nuisance phone calls and emails.
