Weber BBQ Scam

We will have to keep an eye out for reincarnations. If it was a successful scam, they will be back.

I believe that it was a reincarnation.

It seems to be there to me. I can understand that the browser I used to check it out may be showing me a cached version but a different browser I hardly ever use went straight to it this morning. It looks like it’s still on line to me.

Yes. The website is still up.

I was referring to the fact that a Google search for “weber”, webergrills" or “webergrills.melbourne” no longer displays the ad for the scam.

I expect that they will not be getting many hits by people actualy entering “https://webergrills.melbourne/”

Weber advised me that this scam was reported to them last week and they are endeavouring to have the website shut down.

I Googled “weber”. “webergrills” and"webergrills.melbourne" yesterday morning, and much to my horror, 2 displayed the scam ad, so I contacted Google once again.

“I reported this disgusting scam to you a few days ago and it was removed.

Not only has returned as paid Google ads in Google searches for “webergrills” and “webergrills.melbourne”, but it is also shown as a search result for “webergrills.melbourne”.

I am disgusted that it has not only been allowed to be displayed again by your search engine but the problem has been increased.

Kindly shut this scam down ASAP.”

To their credit, Google has removed the scam ads but the search result remains so I have requested that they remove it from their search results.

"I reported this scam to you once again yesterday and I am disappointed to see a Google search for “webergrills.melbourne” still produces a search result although thankfully the paid Google ads are now gone.

Can you eliminate this scam from your Google search results."

Hopefully they can do so but it might not be doable.

It looks like it was not doable as the search result still displays but the website no longer does.

There is still something answering to the scam URL

They won’t be scamming anyone with the URL now.

I hope this was not your ‘mission accomplished’ claim.

After more than a week, the website is still down except for the claiim “We’ll be back soon”.

Somewhat reminiscent of what Douglas MacArthur stated after he was ordered to leave the Philipines in 1942, and it took over 2.5 years for him to return.

But perhaps it will be more like George Armstrong Custer who never returned from the Battle of the Little Big Horn.

Some interesting information regarding the scammers on this website.

It says trust is low based on zero reviews, votes or comments. The reasons given are:

The contact email address used is free

The technical contact email address used is free

The contact email for the administrator is free

The website’s owner is hiding his identity on WHOIS using a paid service

This website has only been registered recently.

We found many low rated websites on the same server

The scam no longer shows up with a Google search.

A Bing search leads to this.
