What are the defects?

Wheels with an incorrect lug nut taper angle were installed on the trailers.

This may cause the lug nuts to loosen or cracks to develop causing a loss of air pressure in the affected tyre.

What are the hazards?

If the wheel lug nut loosens or the tyre deflates while the trailer is being towed, there is a risk of wheel loss, increasing the risk of an accident and serious injury or death to the vehicle occupants and other road users.

What should consumers do?

Owners will be contacted in writing to provide instructions on how to inspect their trailer and how to contact Vermeer Australia to arrange for an inspection and repair, where necessary.
