Thanksgiving Day

This American holiday is little known in Australia. It’s a beautiful way of sharing a meal with family and friends for a grateful remembrance of all the blessings of the year.
Started when the Pilgrim Fathers had a ‘thanksgiving’ meal to show gratitude for their first harvest.
Would it be too cynical to say that it’s an American celebration not very popular in Australia because it’s not driven by commercial interests like Hallowe’en for example?

Some history to their holiday, unlike our own history.

Yes,

We’ve only been ignoring the truth of our more recent history for 200+ years.

In Aus it isn’t known and followed as widely as the next day ‘celebrations’ of the Black Friday sales

That’s why i think people mistake eating turkey at Xmas as the 2 events are a month apart. It is a Thanksgiving signature dish.
