It is so sad to read about a young couple so heartlessly ripped off by these scammers . I found the following statement by the ANZ Bank rather strange .
"An ANZ spokesman, said: "ANZ works hard to protect its customers from scams with a specialist team monitoring for unusual activity around the clock.
“We are also able to provide helpful guidance and tips on how customers can help keep their money and data safe.”
I found when we were scammed by a brokerage linked to the ANZ Bank that the bank wanted to wipe their hands of the matter .
I’m $ 2.4 million out of pocket property wise . I’ve paid $135 , 000 in rent on top of that . At my age , 69 , I will never recuperate my losses . The Company that perpetrated this scam for want of a better word is still operating . They have made no attempt to get in touch with me either by mail or personally .
The CIO and FIO were brought onboard but lost our paperwork ??? Applied for rental assistance . Lost paperwork again ??? During COVID lockdown tenants in our last property ,an apartment at Docklands, did not pay rent for 14 months . Rent was $2000 a month . Class action of 119 apartment owners went to VCAT . Others were paid we missed out . Bank ceased apartment . A week later they , Government Public Housing assistance , found our 6 year old application for rental assistance . I told them to give my brother the money as I wanted nothing to do with them , FIO , CIO , ACCC . All useless in my opinion .
Oh I did apply for Legal aid but was told they only helped women who were in relationships where domestic violence was present due to their limited resources . How " woke"
Anyway life goes on . Powerball is $60 million this Thursday night . Might win it . Who knows . Life is still worth living . If you drive a car and you keep looking in the rear vision mirror for long periods you crash . I’ve learnt to look ahead and make the most of every day .
I hope the young couple recover and at least they are young enough to try an recoup their losses .
