School Photos - some experiences in what appears to be a market with little choice?

It’s a good thing that it’s not confusing !! I’d have thought public schools were public property … I’m certainly not a privacy expert though, aside from the belief that when it matters I don’t think we really have any. One perception I have is that when one researches such things there are so many opinions one has to wonder what the actual answer is … or is it just me (wouldn’t be the first time …).

They are similar to State Govt owned premises that only allow authorised entry. That is why anyone who wishes to enter the grounds really needs a School officer such as a Principal to allow after hours entry to say use the tennis courts or similar. Any entry without permission is treated as trespass. I should have perhaps used “Public Place” rather than “Public Property”. Parents who come to pick their children up early are meant to go to the School office first to be allowed access to get their child/ren.

Victoria Education rules re photos and school entry:

While each State would have similar policy they might also have slightly different requirements in some scenarios. In the “Visitor” policy further down the page it states that Principals should consider the fact that “schools are not public places”.
