Price of Seafood at the riverfront

I have recently holidayed on Nth Coast NSW where main industry is commercial fishing & prawning the price of the seafood is still very high even though the boats are at the back of the co op one would think the overheads are less, so therefore the prices would be half. unfortunately that is not the case I was told by an employee of the Fish Co Op that the Sydney Fish Market sets the prices for the seafood - anyone know why?

Good question @imoxymoron

I have been annoyed by the high prices when you buy from the co-ops, and even when buying directly off trawlers. I always thought this was about them making as much money as possible.

Perhaps we will now find out the truth.
