New 3D Printing Technology Development

The trouble with 3D printing at the moment is it is missing a ‘killer app’.

I know there are individual tinkerers and repair businesses that are able to use 3D printers to make spare parts and to fix broken stuff, but most owners are forced to rely upon plans they download in order to ‘print’ anything worthwhile.

The idea is sound, but so far the execution is not user-friendly. Until it is more user-friendly, and potential users can see clear benefits, it will remain a niche technology no matter how it improves over time.

That said, even the niche technology is valuable, being used by doctors to print body parts and architects in design work - among many other applications. I am just saying that it is not ready to be in every home.
