A recall notice for Kawasaki Ninja EX400GMFNN, EX400GMFAN MY2021 and Kawasaki Z400 ER400DLF, ER400DMFNN MY2020-2021 supplied by Kawasaki Motors Pty Ltd as due to a manufacturing fault, the strength of the camshaft chain tensioner may be insufficient. What are the defects?

Due to a manufacturing fault, the strength of the camshaft chain tensioner may be insufficient. This may cause the engine to generate abnormal noises, and in some cases the engine to stall.

What are the hazards?

If the engine stalls, this increases the risk of injury or death to rider(s) and/or other road users.

What should consumers do?

Kawasaki Motors will notify all affected owners by direct letter or email and advise them to make an appointment for repair.
